Identity Design, 2015
The Brief: This project explores printed matter for a cultural organisation, the Melbourne Cinémathèque which by its own modus operandi encourages experimentation away from the mainstream through its annual program of film screenings. Create a unique graphic identity for the 2016 Melbourne Cinémathèque season as well as design a layout for its printed calendar of screenings.
For this project I created a simple typeface that I then manipulated by taking photos if it through glass ‘lenses’ I had created in the previous semester for one of my electives. Shooting though the uneven surface of the glass warped the text as well as creating interesting colours and shapes. I experimented with layering the images of the text and glass in various ways together with a lino print to create a moody textural identity for the Melbourne Cinémathèque.
