Mirando
Record Cover, 2014

The Brief: For this brief you will be allocated one of five tracks for which you must create a record cover. Once you have been allocated a track, do not try to find the existing artwork or research the artist, you must begin designing based soley off the sounds that you hear.

Sharp, warped, high, low, eletric, splatter, rattle, swosh... were the words I wrote down after first listening to my allocated track ‘Mirando’ by Ratatat. While I was listening to the track I always imaginted I was in a city, but some sort of video game alternate world. So the first part of my design process for this project was to take photographs of the city, I had a roll of film developed with photos I had taken of textures and buildings around the streets. I then scanned in and manipulated the photographs ,cutting up and warping them to try to recreate the sounds I heard in the song.

Ratatat is a New York City experimental electronic rock duo consisting of Mike Stroud (guitar, melodica, synthesizers, percussion) and producer Evan Mast (bass, synthesizers, percussion).
